David A. Weaver, DMD is a 1996 graduate of the University of Kentucky School of Dentistry. He moved to Nashville after graduation to be with his wife, who was finishing her residency in Internal Medicine at Vanderbilt University.
He established a private practice in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, in 1998 while focusing his expertise toward sedation, comprehensive periodontal management, facial pain, and general dentistry. The current medical and legal standards-of-care shift to mandate multi-disciplinary management of compromising medical conditions. As such, Dr. Weaver has created strong alliances with and works closely alongside many physicians in the regional medical community to help them elevate their care of patients to these new standards.
Dr. Weaver’s purpose is to build a bridge between the medical and dental communities to benefit patients. He strives to help doctors avoid the problems associated with failure to diagnose and treat critical medical diseases related to the presence of chronic oral infections, the emerging “Oral-Systemic Connection.” His wife, Dr. Jennifer Lee MD, is in charge of keeping the entire office staff updated on the latest medical trends. This includes how oral inflammation/infection can increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and pregnancy complications, and several other diseases linked to systemic inflammation. Dr. Lee also consults the office on how to care for the medically compromised patient in a dental setting.
Dr. Weaver is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation, the Tennessee Dental Association, and the Nashville Dental Society. Dr. Weaver has performed over 2,500 conscious sedation cases, giving his patients a comfortable option for their dental experiences.
In 2007, Dr. Weaver founded the Your Diabetes Dentist program to address the specific oral-systemic inflammation concerns in diabetic patients. Using the latest in science and technology, his treatment philosophy is pragmatic, straightforward, and involves a multi-disciplinary approach. It represents a comprehensive and proactive approach to chronic periodontal disease, disorders of TMJ/TMD, dental occlusion, facial pain, and cosmetic dentistry. The ability to provide these dental services with conscious sedation has dramatically increased patient compliance with recommended treatment.
